Switch to the Simplel (F:) window. you will notice that the simplel (F:) drive is successfully created. 16. Close the Simplel (F:) window. 17. Type exit in the Administrator: Command Prompt window, and press the Enter key. Task 2. Type compmgmt.msc, and then press the Enter key. the computer Management window is displayed. 3. select Disk Management under the Storage node in the left pane. the Initilize Disk dialog box is displayed. 4. Click the Cancel button. The Computer Management window is displayed. 5. Right-click (C:) under the Volume column in the middle pane, and then select Properties. The Local Disk(C:) Properties dialog box is displayed. 6. Click the Tools tab. 7. Click the Check button under the Error checking section. The Error Checking (Local Disk(C:)) dialog box is displayed. 8. Click the scan drive option. Click the Disk Ceanup button After a few moments the Disk Cleanup for (C:) dialog box is displayed. 3. select the Temporary files check boxes under the File to delete section, and then click the ok button. the Disk Cleanup dialog box is displayed. 4. Click the Delete File button to permanently delete the selected files. After a few moments, the Local Disk (C:) Properties dialog box is displayed. Task 4. Defragmenting the C: Drive To defragment the C: drive, you need to perform the following steps: 1. Click the Tools tab of the Local Disk (C:) Properties dialog box. 2. Click the Optimize button Drives button under the Optimize and defragment drive section. The Optimize Drives window is displayed. 3. Ensure that the (C:)drive is selected under the Drive column. 4. Click the Optimize button. After a few moments, the OK (100% space efficiency) text is displayed under the Current status column for C: drive. 5. Task 1.1 Checking the name resolution

To check the name resolution, you need to perform the following steps:

1. Ensure that the Start screen is displayed.
2. Type Command Prompt, and then press the Enter Key. The Administrator:
   Command Prompt window is displayed.
3. Type the ping patentserver command, and then press the Enter key. the ping request error message is displayed.
4. Type the exit command, and then press the Enter key. the Administrator:
   Commans Prompt window is closed.

Task 1.2 Configuring and Testing the Hosts File

To configure and test the hosts file, you need to perfoem the following steps:
1. Press Windows+C keys. The charms bar is Displayed.
2. Select Start. The screen is Displayed.
3. Type C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc, and then press the Enter key. The etc window is displayed.
4. select the hosts file in the right pane.
5. Rght-click the hosts file, and then select the Open with optin. the How do you want to open this file pop-up

7. press the Ctrl+Ent keys to reach at the and of file.
8. Type 172.16.0.10, and then press the Tab key.
9. Type patenserver, and then close the file. the Notepad dialog box is displayed.

11. close the etc window.
12. Open the command prompt window.
13. Type the Ping Patentsever command, and then press the Enter key. The replies from 172.16.0.10 are displayed.
14. Type the exit command, and then the Enter key. The Administrator:

Task 2. Accessing DNS information Using Windows PowerShell

To access DNS information using Windows PowerShell, you need to perform the following steps:
1. Press the windows key. the Start screen is displayed.
2. Start typing powerShell. The Windows PowerShell file is displayed in the Apps screen.
3. Click the Windows PowerShell tile. The Administrator: Windows PowerShell window is displayed.
4. Type the Get-Dnsclient cmdlet, and then press the Enter key. After some time, the details of
   computer interface DNS are displaye.
5. Type the Get-DnsClientCache cmdlet, and then press the Enter key. you will notice that the entries of
   cache are displayed.
6. Type the Get-DnsClintGlobalSetting cmdlet, and then press the Enter key. you will notice that the Global
   DNS setting are displayed.

2. TotalTech Corporation is a leading Finance company in the U.S. with the head office in Sunnyvale. Currently, the company uses many customized line-of-business applications to accomplish its dayto- day business operations. The management of TotalTech wants to use the latest finance applications for simplifying and improving the working of its employees. Now, to configure these line-of-business applications on to the server, considerable space is required in a dedicated partition. The server, on which the applications need to be installed, has only one drive, C:. It has plenty of unused space, but is running slow due to excessive creation and deletion of files and folders on its C: drive. However, the server's storage capacity upgradation plan is not on the cards of the company due to financial limitations. To cater to the preceding requirements, the management has asked Jim, the Server Administrator, to provide a solution. What should Jim do in such a situation? 3. select Disk Management under the Storage node in the left pane. the Initilize Disk dialog box is displayed.

3. ABC-Systems provides system graphics and designing services to its clients. The company has provided its employees laptops to give them flexibility to work anywhere and give presentations to the clients. 18. Ensure that the Steandard- 20MHz Channel is selected from the Radio Band dop-down list.

32. Replace the existing text with Password@1234 in the Router Password and Re-Enter the Password text boxs.
33. Ensure that the HTTP check box is selected in Web Utility Access.
34. Ensure that the Enabled option in selected in Web Utility Access via wireless.
35. Click the save setting button.
36. Click the Status tab. the status page is displayed. you will notice that the changes that you have made for the router
    configuration are visible.
37. Close the Router window.

2. Click Search. The Search charm is displayed.
3. Type Control Panel, and then press the Enter key. the control Panel window is displayed.
4. Click the Network and Internet link. the Network and internet window is displayed.
5. Click the Connect to a network link.The Network pane is displayed.
6. Ensure that ABC-Systems is selected under the Wi-Fi section.
7. Click the ABC-Systems link. After a few moments, the Enter the network security key.text box is displayed.
8. Type Password@123 in the Seecurity key text box.
9. Click the Next button. the networks charm is displayed.
10. Click the yes, turu on sharing and connect to devices link. After a few moments, the ABC-Systems connection is connected.
11. Close all the open windows.

of time, they slow down the browsing process.

2. Click Control Panel. the Control panel window is displayed.
3. Click the network and Internet link. the Network and Internet window is displayed.
4. Click the Internet Options link. the Internet Properties dialog box is diplayed.
5. Ensure that the General tab is selected.
6. Click the delete button under the Browsing history section. the Delete Browsing History dialog box
   is displayed.
7. select the from data ans passwords check boxes.
8. Click the delete button. the delete Browsing History message box is displayed for a few
   moments and then disappears.
9. Click the Advanced tab in the Internet Properties dialog box. the Advanced page is displayed..
10. Click the Reset button under the Reset Internet Explorer setting section. the Reset Internet Exlplorer setting
    dialog box is displayed.
11. Click the Reser button. the Reset Internet Explorer setting message box is displayed.
12. Click the close button. the Network and Internet window is displayed

Task 3. Verify the browser security and privacy settings.
High security setting for the security zones may result in slow browsing. Similarly, High privacy setting may block the
cookies from the website.
1. Ensure that the Network and Internet window is displayed.
2. Click the Internet Options link. The Internet Properties dialog box is displayed.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Ensure that the Internet icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting section is selected.
5. Ensure that Medium-high is selected under the security level for this zone section.
6. select the Local internet icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting cection.
7. Ensure that Medium-low is selected under the security level for this zone section.
8. Select the Trusted sites icon under the select a zone to view or change security setting section.
9. Ensure that Medium is selected under the security level for this zone section.
10. Select the Restricted sites icon under the select a zone to view or change.
11. Ensure that High is selected under the security level for this zone section.
12. Click the sites button. the Restricted sites dialog box is displayed.
13. Ensure that rhere is no website address in the WebSite section.
14. Click the Close button to close the Restricted sites dialog box.
15. Click the Privacy tab. the privacy setting for the browser are displayed.
16. Ensure that the privacy setting for Internet zone are set to Medium under the Setting section.

Task 4. Verifying the Proxy Setting
If your networkuses a proxy server as a gateway to the Internet, an incorrect or missing proxy configuration
on the brower can cause problems.
1. Ensure that the Internet Properties dialog box is displayed.
2. Click the Connections tab.
3. Click the LAN setting button. the Local Area Network (LAN) setting dialog box is displayed.
4. Ensure that the Automatically detect setting check box is selected under the Antomatic configuration section.
5. Click the OK button twice.
6. Close the Network and Internet window.

Task 5. Check and resolve DNS resolution issues.
To identify a DNS resolution problem, ping a website by its domain name. then, ing the same website by its IP address. A DNS
resolition problem existe if you are able to successfully ping a website by its I address but you cannot ping the same website
by its domain name.
1. Open the Command Prompt window.
2. Type ping www.adatum.com, and then press the Enter key. the command prompt windows do not recerives the acknowledgement from adatum.com
3. Type ipconfig/all, and then press the Enter key. the windows IP configuration details are dislayed.
4. Open the Control Panel window.
5. Click the Network and Internet link. the Network and Internet window is displayed.
6. Click the Network and sharing center link. the network and sharing center window is displayed.
7. Click the local Area connection link under the View your active networks section. The Local Area Connection Status dialog box is displayed.
8. Click the Properties button. the local Area connection  properties dialog box is displayed.
9. Select Intenet protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) in the this connection uses the following items list box.
10. Click the properties button. the Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/Iv4) properties dialog box is displayed.
11. Ensure that the Use the following I address option is selected.
12. Replace the existing text with 172.16.0.10 in the Preferred DNS server text box.
13. Click the OK button. the Local Area connection proprties dialog box is displayed.
14. Click the Close button. the local Area Connection Status Dialog box is displayed.
15.Click the Close button. the Network and Sharing Center window is displayed.
16. Close the Network and Sharing Center windiw.
17. Switch to the Command prompt window.
18. Type ping www.adatum.com and then press the Enter key. the Successful replies from www.adatum.com are displayed.

Task 6. Test the network's DNS server for name resolution.
To check if your network's DNS server is able to resolve the domain names into equivalent I Address.
1. Ensure that the Command Prompt window is opened.
2. Type nslooup, and then press the Enter key ,The nslookup command starts in interactive mode and the IP address of your network's DNS server is dislayed.
3. Type adatum.com after>, and then press the Enter key. the IP address for adatum.com is displayed.
4. Type exit, and then press the Enter key.
5. Close Command prompt window.

Task 7. Testing the Default Website Browsing
1. Click the Internet Explorer icon on the task bar.
2. Type www.adatum.com in the address ber, and then press the Enter key, the default webpage is displayed.
3. Close the Internet Explorer window.
